At SP Group, we are committed to sustained giving and meeting the needs of the community with meaningful and lasting impact.
Volunteerism is an integral part of our DNA. Our staff volunteers, known as SP Heart Workers are passionate about giving their time, skills and effort to improve quality of life. They drive outreach activities for the vulnerable and underserved throughout the year.
We raise funds and contribute to programmes that support vulnerable seniors, pre-schoolers and families.
The SP Heartware Fund, established in 2005, supports services for vulnerable seniors, in partnership with Community Chest. These include befriending, rehabilitation, counselling and caregiver support.
SP Kids at Heart helps children from low-income families to enhance social mobility. In partnership with the Early Childhood Development Agency and Community Chest, the fund will provide for educational resources, bursaries, and assistance for home and developmental needs.
Our staff also contributed generously to the Funds, which SP matches dollar for dollar. In addition, SP underwrites all fund-raising and operational costs of the Funds and programmes, so that all donations will go fully to the social service organisations supported by the Funds.
SP Kids at Heart was launched in June 2021 to support young children from low-income families in their learning journey. To kickstart this initiative, SP has donated S$1 million to benefit KidSTART children aged 6 and below from low-income families with educational tools, books and toys for the first year.
About 2,000 learning and development packs, and electronic devices such as tablets and internet routers were distributed to ensure that the children’s learning is not disrupted during the pandemic.
Our staff volunteers also known as SP Heart Workers, are also on hand to support the outreach programmes.
At SP, safety is our highest priority. Staying free of accident and injury is an important part of our culture, for our community, our staff and our contractors. We organise outreach activities and produce educational resources to raise public awareness on gas safety and to prevent accidents arising from gas leaks and fires.
We help the public to efficiently manage their energy consumption and empower them to build a sustainable future. Our energy-efficiency tips, took kits and interactive features on the SP Utilities App and other digital platforms.
Our volunteers promote safety and energy-efficiency awareness during our outreach activities in the community.
It is mission critical to respond to emergencies swiftly, safety and effectively. This readiness enables us to power every household and business in Singapore with world-class reliability, round the clock.
In partnership with Temasek, SP has contributed towards various initiatives to protect and keep Singapore safe. To encourage individuals and families to be prepared for emergencies, we helped to produce and deliver starter kits with N95 masks to every household in Singapore.
In strengthening Singapore's pandemic defence in the fight against COVID-19, we were part of the Temasek Foundation initiatives to provide free hand sanitiser and reusable masks to all residents in Singapore. Our SP Heart Workers helped with distribution at a collection centre and our call centre managed these projects' public phone hotline.
In addition to the supported rendered to seniors via our SP Heartware Fund, we also collaborated with Temasek Trust to support the Project Silver Screen, a programme that provides vision, hearing and oral care screening for seniors aged 60 and above.
