SINGAPORE, 31 JULY 2026 – SP Group (SP) has once again rallied its partners for the annual SP Charity Golf event today, raising a record S$1.1 million for its SP Heartware Fund. The contributions will go towards programmes backed by Community Chest to uplift the lives of seniors, children and youth from lower-income backgrounds.
Held at Tanah Merah Country Club, the event culminated in a dinner where the highlight was a lively and engaging performance by children from Suncare SG’s community choir. Aged 7 to 14, the children are among the beneficiaries of SP Group’s support to Suncare SG, helping them improve their living conditions, receive nutritious meals, and enable sustainable employment opportunities for their parents or caregivers.
At the event, Ms Leong Wai Leng, Chairman of SP Group, said, “Addressing the challenges that vulnerable communities face requires the assurance of multi-year support. This is why SP Group is committed to sustained, collective efforts year after year. In our outreach across the age spectrum, we help create stronger educational and vocational pathways for children and youth, provide stability and confidence to their families, and develop programmes to promote active ageing for seniors. The result is a better quality of life and a more resilient community.”
Mr Ted Tan, Vice Chairman of Community Chest, shared, “Meeting evolving social needs requires more than one-off support. It takes committed, multi-year partnerships that give social service agencies the resources to plan and deliver programmes to support critical needs on a sustained basis. SP Group’s steadfast and longstanding support has enabled agencies to strengthen their services and uplift the lives of seniors, children, and families in need, creating impact for the community.”
Through the SP Heartware Fund, SP supports Community Chest in delivering programmes that benefit vulnerable communities across Singapore. Community Chest works with over 100 social service agencies to deliver more than 300 programmes that reach approximately 94,000 beneficiaries annually. These include initiatives in befriending, caregiving, and rehabilitation for seniors, early childhood development and uplifting social mobility of at-risk youths.
Since its establishment in 2005, the fund has raised over S$37 million through the contributions from SP, its employees, partners and customers. SP Group underwrites all fund-raising and operational costs of the SP Heartware Fund so that every dollar donated is channelled fully to our partner social service agencies. Besides donations from SP’s business partners, the overall contribution comprised the donations of SP employees to the Fund in the past year, which SP has matched dollar for dollar. SP’s customers have also contributed to the SP Heartware Fund through donation platforms via their utilities bills and the SP app.
Beyond fundraising, SP actively engages its employees in volunteerism, complementing financial contributions with on-the-ground efforts towards community programmes. This holistic approach reflects SP’s ongoing efforts to create lasting social impact through both corporate and individual contributions. Last year, employee volunteer hours grew by 45 per cent to more than 12,000 hours, with 40 per cent of the workforce participating at least once in volunteer activities.
