SINGAPORE, 4 OCTOBER 2025 – SP Group (SP) is donating S$1 million to Suncare SG, in support of initiatives that will uplift lower-income families. The funds will go towards Suncare SG’s Kindness Inspires DreamS (KIDS) Fund to improve living conditions, provide access to nutritious meals, and enable sustainable employment opportunities for the children’s parents or caregivers.
The fund was launched at a Children’s Day celebration at the Lighthouse (a children and youth centric pop-up run by Suncare SG) in Punggol, officiated by Advisers to Punggol Grassroots Organisations, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry, Mr Gan Kim Yong and Senior Minister of State for National Development and Transport, Ms Sun Xueling. DPM Gan and SMS Sun witnessed the presentation of SP’s donation to Suncare SG, which was made through Community Chest.
SP’s contribution, to be disbursed over three years, will benefit around 200 families under Suncare SG’s KIDS Fund. The funding will provide targeted support for children’s immediate well-being needs, including:
Children from beneficiary families will attend mentorship and academic supervision programmes (“You Power”) at the Lighthouse and join confidence building programmes like “You Sparkle” – a community choir organised by Suncare SG and supported by the Ministry of Social and Family Development – where the children have opportunities to share about their dreams through songs and showcase their hard work and talents.
Caregivers of the children are engaged through surveys and house visits and watching their children do better in school and having opportunities to perform on stage strengthen their involvement and pride in the children’s development. The main caregiver will also be supported through local job-placement opportunities to enable economic stability.
DPM Gan said, “Our children are our future. We want to better support children, especially those from lower-income families, so that they can grow well and have a stronger footing in life. I thank SP for doing its part to contribute to the wellbeing of children in Punggol GRC, and contributing to the whole-of Singapore effort to build a stronger, more inclusive society.”
Mr Stanley Huang, Group CEO of SP Group, added, "We recognise that holistic support for the family serves as building blocks for a brighter future - from meeting daily essential needs and creating healthy homes to ensuring steady educational and employment pathways. SP Group is pleased to partner Suncare SG in uplifting families in need through sustained, multi-pronged support."
Over 300 children and their families attended the Children’s Day celebration. The event included eco-educational games and hands-on activities like paper mâché making, with caregivers and partners gathered to celebrate and reaffirm the importance of building positive mindset, emotional well-being and resilient character in children.
Through SP’s philanthropy and volunteerism efforts over the past year, more than S$5.8 million has been contributed to support vulnerable groups across the age spectrum including children and youth from disadvantaged backgrounds.
